Andrew Parker, Company Artistic Director of Chattanooga Ballet, has developed over his thirty year ballet career a wealth of professional experience as a dynamic and inspired director, choreographer, ballet master, teacher and community collaborator. Mr. Parker has held numerous leadership positions in the United States and Canada, such as School Director and Dean of Nashville Ballet, Artistic Administrator of Boston Ballet’s CITYDANCE program and Ballet Master of Montreal’s La La La Human Steps. He has taught at Canada’s National Ballet School, Boston Ballet School, Milwaukee Ballet, Walnut Hill School as well as Ballet Academy of Texas, Texas Ballet Theatre School and Southern Methodist University – Meadows School of the Arts in Dallas with many of his former students now performing in and choreographing for dance companies internationally. For eleven years he danced professionally with Milwaukee Ballet, Tulsa Ballet, Ballet Iowa and City Ballet of Houston performing a wide range of classical and contemporary repertoire. Mr. Parker began his ballet studies at the age of nine in his hometown of Cambridge, Massachusetts. He received his professional training from Carol Jordan, Boston Ballet School and Milwaukee Ballet School. In 2000, he received his diploma with distinction from Canada’s National Ballet School Teacher Training Program for Professional Dancers. Mr. Parker has studied ballet pedagogy with master teachers Mavis Staines, Glenn Gilmour, Jurgen Schneider, Tatiana Legat, Nicole Cavallin and Gilbert Mayer. He has created choreography for many schools and companies across North America, as well as for Toronto’s International Dance Festival and the Orianna Women’s Choir. In the 2016-17 Season he created many new works for Chattanooga Ballet, including new choreography for “The Nutcracker” and also choreographed the Dream Ballet for University of Tennessee – Chattanooga Theatre Department’s production of “Oklahoma.” Mr. Parker also serves as a regular guest master teacher at several intensive summer dance programs.
