Welcome Andrew Parker
Chattanooga Ballet is proud to announce the appointment of Andrew Parker to the position of Company Artistic Director. In this position Mr. Parker will provide artistic vision for the company and will be responsible for conceiving, developing, and implementing the artistic direction and focus of the company. Mr. Parker will assume this newly created position in July.
Andrew began his performance career with the Milwaukee Ballet under Ted Kivitt. In 1987 he joined the Tulsa Ballet Theatre touring throughout the United States performing works by Balanchine, Arthur Mitchell, Agnes DeMille, and Christensen. He later joined Konstantin Uralsky’s Ballet Iowa as a principal dancer where he performed several new works created for him as well as classics from the Bolshoi Ballet repertoire.
Mr. Parker has choreographed works for Canada’s National Ballet School, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, American Academy of Ballet, Walnut Hill, Milwaukee Ballet School, Southern Methodist University, Ballet Ensemble of Texas, Quinte Ballet School of Canada, among others. He was commissioned by Toronto’s International Dance Festival to create his pas de deux, 2 = 1, for soloists from the National Ballet of Canada and Toronto Dance Theatre.
He has been on the faculty and led programs at many well respected dance education institutions, including Canada’s National Ballet School, Boston Ballet School, Meadow School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University, and Nashville Ballet. Mr. Parker received his ballet teacher diploma with distinction from Canada’s National Ballet School’s Teacher Training Program for professional dancers.
