SUMMER INTENSIVE—IMPROVE, GROW, TRAIN!

Chattanooga Ballet’s Summer Intensive provides instruction in ballet, variations, pre-pointe, pointe, modern, jazz, musical theatre, character dance, hip hop and stretch & strengthening for dancers, levels intermediate to advanced.  
Classes meet Monday through Friday, 9 – 4pm. There will be a culminating performance the afternoon of Friday, June 14. Please note those participating in Week 1 only will not be a part of the performance. Those attending Week 2 only will perform in one piece. Classes will be taught by Chattanooga Ballet faculty and master guest teachers. New students should contact the office to inquire about level.
Week 1: June 3—7, 9am-4pm $225

Nutcracker Camp for Boys and Girls
($130) June 24-28, 9am – 12:30pm
For ages 5-8

This fun-packed week includes daily ballet classes and activities centered around Chattanooga Ballet’s celebrated production of The Nutcracker, performed every December at the Tivoli Theatre. Young dancers will explore the story, history and music and learn about the main characters of Clara, The Prince, Herr Drosselmeyer and the Sugar Plum Fairy. On the last day of the camp, dancers are invited to attend a tea party with Clara herself!

Young Dancer’s Summer Workshop for Boys & Girls
($160) July 8-12, 9am – 3pm
For ages 7–13 (Grade 1 – Intermediate I)

This year’s camp will feature the famous ballet story of Le Corsaire (The Pirate). In addition to daily ballet classes, dancers will learn about the story, history and music of this beautiful and swashbuckling ballet. Creativity abounds as all participants create their own version of the ballet. At the end of the week parents and families are invited to come in and watch the creations of all the young princesses and pirates! Placement class held first day to assign level in program.

Student Choreography WorkshopCalling all young artists
($160) July 22 – 26, 10am – 4pm
For dancers Intermediate I – Advanced

Learn to create your own dances, or dance in your peers’ creations! All participants will take daily technique classes in ballet, modern, and/or jazz. Attend as either an aspiring choreographer or a dancer. Participants will receive ongoing guidance and mentoring throughout the week from the program facilitators. The week will conclude with an opportunity to share work with families and friends in an open studio setting.

All participants will benefit from studying and learning about 20th century choreographers and their respective styles and approaches to creating dance art. Program Facilitators will be Karen Smith and Andrew Parker. Aspiring choreographers will be asked to fill out a brief application. Alia Kache

For rising Intermediate 4-Advanced
A program featuring Chattanooga Ballet’s Corps de ballet. 

Learn a new ballet created by an experienced, recognized professional choreographer set to be performed in Chattanooga Ballet’s 2019/20 Season alongside our professional dancers. Daily classes offered by Chattanooga Ballet faculty, as well as master classes with the guest choreographers.

Alia Kache

Ms. Kache received her early dance training at Center for Creative Arts and Chattanooga Ballet. A graduate of the Ailey/Fordham B.F.A. program in 2004, she subsequently joined Ailey II and also performed with Nathan Trice/RITUALS, Creative Outlet, Genesis Dance Company, CeDeCe (Alcobaça, Portugal), and Opera Company Philadelphia.

She has appeared in Laurie Simon’s Music of Regret – Act III, Radio City Christmas Spectacular 75th Anniversary DVD, and Cordoniu Navidad 2007 (Barcelona, Spain). She was a featured dancer in Big League Theatricals’ Aida, and performed with Disney’s The Lion King (Gazelle Tour). 

Co-founder of Renegade Performance Group, Ms. Kache has choreographed for contestants of the Miss Tennessee and Miss Georgia pageants (Miss America Organization), Broadway Cares, The Helping Hands Campaign, Cistermúsica (Alcobaça, Portugal), Associação de Dança de Leiria (Leiria, Portugal), and students of The Ailey School. Her work has also been seen at The Tank, Check Us Out Festival, Equilibrium Choreographers Showcase, DUMBO White Wave Festival, Dance Gallery Festival, Harlem Arts Festival, Bryant Park Presents Modern Dance, and FringeNYC.
